First free climbing (8a/A3) of the West Pillar of the Trango Tower (6257 m) in Pakistan, by three Swiss.
During the month of July and August 2006, Giovanni Quirici, Francesco Pellanda and Christophe Steck with the photographer Evrard Wendenbaum, ventured to Pakistan to do the first free climbing of the West Pillar (1100 m) of Trango Tower. After 12 days, and 5 nights spent in the wall, they achieved to free climb most of the route. Only 3 pitch of the 27 couldn’t be free climbed. With different scary climbing and complicated logistic, today, the West Pillar of Trango Tower is one of the most difficult trad climbs in extreme altitudes.
