Samara is Nirvana : the first major climb in Ladakh.
in July [of 2006] five Swiss climbers, Giovanni Quirici, Guy Scherrer, Elie Chevieux, Philippe Chabloz et Claude Chardonnens travelled to the interior of Ladakh to establish a free-climbing route of extreme difficulty. It took a four day trek, with 12 horses and 4 local Ladakhis to get to this unclimbed limestone pyramid in the gorges of Karnak, the only viable rock among the thousands of surrounding mountains as solid as a pile of sugar. After five days of intensive climbing, the team was able to establish a new line 650 meters long (7b, 7b required). The climb is easily the hardest in Ladakh, terminating at the summit at 4750 meters in including many exposed passages.
